FRANCIS J. KOZAKIEWICZ, age 90, a lifelong Yonkers NY resident, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at St. John’s Hospital after a long illness.
Frank was born on July 6, 1927, in Yonkers, NY to Stanislaw and Magdalena (Wisbiecki) Kozakiewicz. He attended Saunders High School. Frank honorably served in the Army during World War II. He was a sports enthusiast and particularly enjoyed playing golf and bowling. He was an active member of St. Casimir’s Church where he participated in many events and served as an usher. Frank retired as a letter carrier and served as a lobbyist for the NALC. Frank was a dedicated husband and father, beloved by all.
He was pre-deceased by his father, mother, sisters, Helen and Mary, brother, Anthony, first-wife, Margaret, and son, Francis. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 33 years, Lucia and his children, Barbara Wiater, Leonard Kozakiewicz, Annette Kozakiewicz, their spouses, and his grandchildren.
His memory will live on through all who knew him. They will always remember Frank for his captivating personality, sense of humor, and blue eyes.
He will be missed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 16, 2017, from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at DUCHYNSKI-CHERKO Funeral Home (601 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704; next to CVS)). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, in St. Casimir’s Church (239 Nepperhan Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10701). Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetry (209 Truman Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10703).
